This sweet summer classic is a perfect complement to your backyard activities this weekend.
- 1 pint strawberries, hulled and quartered
- 1 cup sugar
- 4 cups water
- ¾ cup fresh lemon juice (about 6 lemons)
- 8 ounces vodka, optional
- Sprig of mint, for garnish
Puree strawberries in a food processor, then run the puree through a fine mesh strainer and remove any large portions of strawberry.
In a pot, bring sugar and 1 cup water to a boil, stirring constantly to dissolve the sugar. Reduce heat to a simmer and continue stirring until the sugar is dissolved completely. Remove pot from heat and let cool.
Add lemon juice, strawberry puree and 3 cups of water. For the adults, add vodka to the mixture. Stir well and serve over ice. Garnish with a sprig of mint.
