This tasty toffee is a classic confection that's buttery, crisp and great for gifting!
- 2½ cups sugar
- 2 cups butter
- ⅓ cup water
- 2 tablespoons light corn syrup
- 1½ cups chopped walnuts, divided
- 6 ounces bittersweet chocolate chips
Butter a 15x10-inch baking pan.
In a heavy-bottomed 4-quart sauce pan fitted with a candy thermometer, combine the sugar, butter, water and corn syrup. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring frequently, until mixture reaches 300°F, about 40 minutes.
Stir in 1 cup walnuts, then pour into the prepared baking pan. Working quickly, top with chocolate chips and spread evenly. Sprinkle remaining walnuts over the top. Cool completely, about 3 hours, then break into pieces.
