Who’s Your Green Guru?

Kaysey E is an amazing Green Guru. He is a college student studying Business Sustainability, and Renewable Energy. He talks the talk and walks the walk! The knowledge and experience that he has as a child living in Davis and studying in college has given him the edge in all aspects of sustainability. He actively seeks and carries out solutions to many issues that affect the community and environment around him. His impact is seen in from Davis to Phoenix communities.
He has found it shocking that both producers and the consumers throw away healthy, edible food for no reason. Learning of the millions of people who are struggling to put nutritious food on the table, he set out to find a solution to food waste and hunger. He organized a coalition between Borderlands Food Bank and Arizona State University. Through the program, members of the Phoenix Metropolitan area can now come to any ASU campus and pay $10 for up to 60lbs of fresh organic produce that would normally end in landfills due to minor imperfections. Now, everyone can enjoy affordable and nutritious food that can last for months. 686 members of the community came to his first event alone! He believes minimizing food waste can not only help secure the future of the Earth’s natural resources, but can also reduce hunger and food insecurity with one approach.
Kaysey is known as “Mr. Sustainability” who is knowledgeable in all environmental issues including Climate Change, Water and Energy Usage, Plastic and Air Pollution; to say that he is very passionate and relentless about Sustainability is an understatement! He was recently invited to give a presentation on his campus about basic sustainability awareness. He was inspirational to all executives to begin a sustainability mindset in everything they do from now on. He has also designed T-shirts highlighting food waste, hunger facts and offered solutions to spread awareness. In total, 600 shirts were made and have been used at various sustainability focused events across his university. Good job Kaysey!
