Elves, dwarves and dragons, oh my! This month’s book club theme is Fantasy, which means it’s time to conjure up some truly fantastical tales, enchanting eats and beguiling beverages. From otherworldly and odd to mystical with a touch of whimsy, with a theme like this, your imagination is the limit!
In terms of wine, Bogle Phantom is a perfect choice for Fantasy Month. An intense, mysterious red with layers of ripe berry, black pepper and baking spice, this oak-aged wine has chalky tannins and a complex, lingering finish. On the lighter side, Resolute Rosé is made from grapes grown on the slopes of Mount Diablo and features bright aromas of peach, strawberry and dragon fruit plus flavors of pear, green apple and citrus.
Have some non-drinkers in attendance? Get the kettle started and brew some enigmatic Four Sigmatic Mushroom Hot Cocoa or Coffee Mix. You can also turn any colorful beverage into a playful potion by pouring into a goblet or snifter.
For some fan-tasty snacks, drop by our specialty cheese department for a wedge of Red Dragon (English cheddar made with wholegrain mustard and ale) paired with breadsticks, a.k.a. magic wands. On the sweeter side, top your table with treats like Fantasy Sour Belts and the gold at the end of the rainbows—in this case, Lucky Charms. Just like the leprechaun says, they’re magically delicious!
And if your tale of choice happens to feature fairies or unicorns, you can also get your sparkle on with Kuumba Made Simply Sparkles Body Glitter from our healthy living department.
Ready to read? There are plenty of series like The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien, Green Rider by Kristen Britain or Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin that are sure to keep your book club busy, along with other tantalizing titles like The Princess Bride by William Goldman or Defiant by Phillip S. Benson.
