The classics never go out of style, but if you’re looking to switch things up for your next cookout, try swapping out some of your standard side dishes for something spicy from our deli department. We recommend our Chipotle Chicken Salad: chef-prepared Fresh to Market Free Range Rotisserie Chicken, mixed with fresh-grilled and shaved corn, scallions and torn cilantro.
When it comes to sides for summertime, we like dishes that are cool, refreshing, and packed full of the best produce of the season. That’s why the Chef-prepared Orzo Pasta Salad from our Deli department makes the perfect accompaniment to your summertime meal. We cook our organic orzo to a perfect al dente, and then we toss it with blanched asparagus, oven-roasted tomatoes, fresh-squeezed lemon juice, mint and olive oil. All you need is a simply grilled protein source (we like a nice grilled chicken breast with lemon), and you have a complete summertime meal.
Flavored with cilantro and lime, the slow-roasted pork from our Deli department is cooked for 24 hours, resulting in fall-off-the-bone tenderness. This pork also comes packed with nutrients: a three-ounce serving supplies more than 20 percent of your daily need for protein, along with 30 percent of your daily need for the vitamin thiamin (B1).
There’s no doubt that ceviche is a fabulous summer food — it’s cold, it’s fresh and it combines some of our favorite flavors of the season. For a hassle-free take on this summer classic, try the Shrimp Ceviche from our deli. Prepared fresh daily by Nugget Markets chefs, this ceviche combines shrimp with fresh cucumbers, tomatoes, cilantro, herbs and spices. For serving, we like ceviche paired with our Fresh to Market corn tortilla chips.
