A buttery caramel that melts in your mouth with a delightfully salty finish.
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- 1 vanilla bean, split and scraped
- 1 tablespoon sea salt
Butter 15 x 10-inch baking pan.
In a heavy bottom 4-quart sauce pan, combine all ingredients except vanilla bean and cook over medium-low heat for 25-30 minutes, stirring frequently until temperature reaches 245° F on a candy thermometer.
Add vanilla bean scrapings and stir. Pour caramel mixture into prepared pan and cool completely about 1 1/2 hours.
Cut into squares and sprinkle with sea salt.
