Use this streusel to top fruit pies in place of a traditional double crust, or go wild and enjoy it on yogurt, cinnamon rolls, coffee cake or anything else that could use a sweet, crispy topping.
- ¼ cup butter, softened
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- ½ cup flour
- ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
- ¼ cup sliced almonds, rough chopped
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Combine butter, brown sugar, flour and cinnamon in a work bowl. Mix together with your fingers until the butter is broken into ¼-inch pieces. Add the almonds and mix until well combined.
If making the streusel on its own, spread it out on a lined baking sheet and bake for 20–30 minutes, until golden brown. If making streusel for a pie or coffee cake, incorporate and bake according to recipe directions.
