Take the mystery out of roasting chestnuts. This quick and simple how-to will make you a chestnut roasting pro in no time!
- 5 pounds fresh chestnuts, in the shell
Preheat oven to 400°F.
Place chestnuts in a pot and submerge in cold water. Bring chestnuts to a boil over medium high-heat, then drain and rinse.
Once slightly cooled, cut an "x" into the flat side of each nut with a sharp, serrated bread knife and place onto a cookie sheet.
Roast for 12-15 minutes until the cut opens and the nut is exposed.
Cool, peel shell from nut and enjoy!
