These lovely morsels of savory, sweet, salty amazingness will have you and your guests swooning.
- 12 large pitted Medjool dates
- ¼ cup (2 ounces) blue cheese
- 6 slices of prosciutto di Parma, halved lengthwise
- 12 toothpicks, soaked in water to prevent burning
Preheat oven to 400°F.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Cut small pocket into each date. Fill each date with approximately 1 teaspoon of blue cheese. Wrap each cheese-filled date with a slice of prosciutto and secure with a toothpick.
Place dates on baking sheet and bake until warmed through and cheese is melted, approximately 25 minutes. Serve immediately.
For a heavenly variation called Angels on Horseback, substitute a shucked oyster for the cheese-filled date.
